Titanium plated bit introduction
Titanium plated drill is also high speed steel titanium plated, titanium plated steel drill: very high hardness (hardness can reach HRC78, the premise is to real industrial plating, not that kind of decorative plating) → wear resistance (wear resistance and high temperature resistance significantly improved) → life extension (general 3~10 times);
The characteristics of titanium plated HSS drill bits are as follows:
1, the hardness of high speed steel between HRC51-55, the workpiece in the hardness of HRC35, drilling is not moving. After titanium plating, the bit hardness can reach about HRC68 and the workpiece can be drilled HRC48
2. After the bit is plated with titanium, the wear resistance and high temperature resistance are significantly improved, which increases the life of the bit
3. After titanium plating, the color is like gold and the appearance is beautiful
4. After titanium plating on drill bit, the factory can raise the price a lot and increase the profit of the factory
5, titanium plating after the drill, lowers a bit red, increased bit drilling progress But: bit of titanium coating on the market more than 95% of all is false, because most promotional bit just decorative coating of titanium coating, just for the sake of beautiful bit of titanium coating color effect, so in order to differentiate between the two kinds of plating titanium industry which, false call decorative plating, really call industrial plating.
That HSS drill, cobalt drill, hard alloy steel drill how to choose? What kind of drill is used to process stainless steel?
Several bits are not good or bad, the key is to see the application, processing material and cost performance, hard alloy bits, high hardness, good wear resistance, high efficiency, toughness is slightly poor, so the machine rigidity and spindle jumping and speed are required! Cobalt containing high speed steel including ordinary high speed steel, toughness is good, cutting edge can be handled very sharp, more suitable for processing some sticky materials, of course, the lower strength of the material is not to mention, but its high temperature resistance, wear resistance is relatively poor, drilling speed is not high! The best M42 material for cobalt-containing drill (in the HSS category) has a hardness of 55HRC. Generally speaking, HSS can only drill the workpiece whose hardness is lower than HRC36.
There are two types of drills used to drill HSS
One is titanium plated HSS drill, relatively cheap, hardness can reach HRC78 (the premise is to really industrial plating).
The second is hard alloy drill. Stainless steel is characterized by high toughness and easy knife sticking. Therefore, it is required that the hardness of the drill bit be high, the surface finish is good, and the tip Angle of the drill bit is larger than that of the ordinary drill bit (between 130 and 135 degrees). At the same time, the cooling should be sufficient. And the feed quantity is greater than 0.15mm in order to avoid cold work hardening layer cutting as far as possible. The cutting speed is as low as possible to reduce the cutting temperature. The cutting fluid is made of thick emulsion. Commonly used stainless steel processing bit: high cobalt bit (M35 bit, M42 bit), which M42 bit cost performance is the best. Carbide drills can also be used, but the price is higher.
